As the new year starts, it’s time to stop looking backward and reviewing what could have been. It’s time to start looking straight ahead and begin planning on what could be. Many of us will be stuck on reviewing 2020 and all the things that didn’t go our way. We continue our negative attitude approach as we enter 2021. Like it or not, COVID is with us for a while yet this year. So, we must create a workaround, for our companies, our employees, and our customers. There’s light at the end of the tunnel, you just have to keep moving to be able to see it. The rearview mirror prevents us from looking forward.
Today, we need to focus on a new year and direct our positive energy in areas we can grow, improve, and innovate, making it 2021 like no other. All of us need to look through the windshield and look forward and focus on driving our new ideas forward. We need to ramp up our sales and marketing, service, and engineering areas and find new ways to reach and take extremely great care of our current and future customers. We need to come together to set new goals that our company teams can reach so that 2021 will be nothing like the past.
The great American philosopher and psychologist William James was so right when he said: “It is our attitude at the beginning of a difficult task which, more than anything else, will affect its successful outcome.” So, it must be as we dive into 2021 headfirst, looking forward, with enthusiasm and a positive attitude that this will be a new year with new opportunities that have been created because of our refocused positive effort.
